The early years at our school
Our school is a specialised Steiner Early Years Centre focusing on education for children from birth to seven years. We offer four Parent and Child groups for children from 0 to 3 1/2 years of age and three mixed-age Kindergartens for children from 3 until rising 7. All groups are led by specially trained Steiner teachers.
Our aim is to create a creative, safe and homely environment in which the children can develop socially, emotionally and physically. The foundations skills for literacy and numeracy are laid through a curriculum rich in nourishing opportunities for children to learn experientially, in preparation for more formal teaching and learning of these subjects when the children move on to school.
We also take into account the statutory requirements and guidelines of the government’s Revised Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS). Exemptions and modifications to certain of the Learning and Development requirements which conflict with Steiner Waldorf principles and practice have been granted to the school by the Secretary of State for Education. For more information about the exemptions, please contact the school office.
