Welcome to our website

We are an independent, co-educational and non-denominational Steiner Waldorf Early Years Centre located in Hornsey/Crouch End in North London, an area with wonderful parks and woodlands such as Highgate and Queen’s Woods.

Our school, in common with other Steiner Waldorf settings, takes the educational writings of Rudolf Steiner as its starting point. Our staff members receive support, advice and collegiality through the Steiner Waldorf Schools’ Fellowship. Our work also entails positive dialogue with other early years’ practitioners, school inspectors and the relevant authorities or institutions.

We hope that our website will give you a feel for our school and that you are inspired to come and visit us!

Our Ethos

The North London Rudolf Steiner School is a Steiner Waldorf Early Childhood setting, which provides experiential, play-based education as a basis for effective lifelong learning for young children from 0 to 6 years.

We aim to provide a caring, supportive and creative community, which nurtures all aspects of child development as a foundation for healthy, confident, well-balanced adults.

We offer four Parent and Child groups for children from 0 to 3 1/2 years of age and three mixed-age Kindergartens for children from 3 until 6. All groups are led by specially trained Steiner teachers. Our aim is to create a creative, safe and homely environment in which the children can develop socially, emotionally and physically.

Parent & Child

All parents and carers are welcome to attend the Rosebuds Parent & Child Group with children aged nought to about 3½. Pregnant mums are also very welcome. This group provides a wonderful space as well as an opportunity for very small children and their parents to experience a ‘taste’ of a Steiner group setting.

The Kindergartens function as mixed age groups for pre-school children between the ages of three to six years. The purpose of a mixed age group is to provide a traditional large family atmosphere, helping children to acquire social skills through experience and imitation.

The North London Rudolf Steiner School operates a socially inclusive admissions policy that does not select children on the grounds of gender, ability, race or religion. The school considers all children as having individual needs and aims to meet those needs in the best way possible for the child.
